Progress Report – March 2015

Just a quick update to apologize for the weirdness here on the site. We are trying to figure it out so please be patient. In the mean time you can still download the patch from the Patch Instructions page.

I can also report some progress on the review. Using the images created by last year’s effort, new volunteer Kaivokz (Tasia) has been working through a few of the files. We are closer than ever to having Sc2 completely reviewed for accuracy.

Edit: All is well now thanks to Moogie!

i have been waiting to see if this was gonna come true. so my question is how do i play this on my Sega Saturn. Can i buy a Repro disc set?

    legalize freedom! edit:
You can burn the patched ISO to disc and play on a mod-chipped Saturn. See the Patch Instructions page.

Will a new save of scenario 1 be named the same as the original save files from the US version? Will it be a problem if I keep my old save from scn1 while replaying this patched one for continuation into scn2?

    Thank you!

Saves are fully compatible between patched and unpatched versions. You will just have to be sure you don’t save over the one you want to keep.

Congratulations for the translations! It has an error in SF3SC1 patch header that appears header SF3SC2. I checked with the CDmage app. Thank you!

    Thank you!
Yes, this is known, but as far as I know, it is coded into the program and the source code has never been provided.

I can not run the version 16 patch the emulator says it doesn’t have the master code has anyone else had this problem? I am currently running version 14 and that one works but 16 won’t even start. Regardless thank you for all the work I love this series and this is amazing.

I can’t be certain what is going on here, so your best bet would be to ask in the forums and we can get into more detail and get more people involved.

just another quick question, i looked at the patch notes and might of misunderstood something. it says i need shining force 3 scenario 1 English version for the patch to work. in which i have. do i also need to purchase sf3 scenario 1 Japanese version? i also just purchased scenario 2 and 3 Japanese just for this. im glad i never played this title yet. because now hopefully i can get this work and enjoy the entire story all at once.

    legalize freedom! edit:
You do not need the Japanese Sc1.

  8. Cody says:

now this maybe a forehead slapper but one more quick technical question. i have a st key. do i still need to mod my saturn? i heard the swap trick can scratch discs so i dont dare put SF 3 SC1 english near that action.

    legalize freedom! edit:
The st key allows playing import games (such as the original Sc2 and Sc3), but doesn’t allow playing burned copies (such as you need to play with the translation patch). The patch is all region so you don’t need to worry about your system playing import games, you just need it to play discs you burn yourself. That requires a mod-chip or the swap trick. If you are using the swap trick and playing with the patch you will only ever be using a burned copy of the patch output to play with, so your original disc will never be in danger.

  9. Cody says:

oh ok i understand now. thank you!!
