Progress Report – Feb 2012

I would like to start by apologizing for the delay in releasing V13. A couple of things have happened that have increased the scope of the patch, however V13 is shaping up to be very meaningful.

We are getting a significant playtesting effort from member Jokerx7 which is of great benefit. Oh, by the way, Jokerx7 also put in the effort to hunt down the cause of the Sc3 end of Ch1 freeze. Can’t thank you enough for that. We now have no patch related game freezes to my knowledge.

Being as this is taking longer than expected, I wanted to get the V13 files out for everyone to use in the meantime. They have been posted in the main FTP directory. You can update your files like in the old days by replacing the s1, s2, s3 folders in the SF3Patch/Files directory. Just keep in mind, we are still working through some things.

I can’t say exactly when everything will be ready to go, but hopefully everyone will enjoy the preview until then. You can follow the daily progress in this thread.

Thank you very much for your outstanding work. I will wait as long as it takes and be grateful forever!

Does this beta of the new patch solve the freeze problem, or is that to be sorted in the full release?

    @ swalchy
I renamed the files after patching, so the 1st filename in the cue was wrong. Didn’t know cues could be edited so easily & that the filename matters xD
This solves a “mystery” for me – thx!

I was just wondering the scenario progress is S1 pretty much done?
You guys are doing a great thing!

  5. swalchy says:

The best thing to do is to make sure that the ISO and CUE files are in the exact same directory, then you only need to have the .CUE file say this:

    FILE “SF3_Scn3_Eng.ISO” BINARY
    TRACK 01 MODE1/2048
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
    FILE “SF3Track2.bin” BINARY
    PREGAP 00:02:00
    INDEX 01 00:00:00

You don’t have to have the full path to the ISO in the “File – Binary” section (e.g., FILE “C:\Documents\ISO\Sf3\SF3.ISO” BINARY). Daemon tools should have no trouble being able to mount the image then

Hmm – more testing reveals, this seems to be a Daemon tools bug/problem …

Lots of thx for the update & keep up the good work!

Also gratz & kudos 4 fixing the crash in S3!!!
I admire your patience – especially, when it comes to answering fan requests ;P

    2 who it may concern:
Delays are MORE than common in this industry, but no-budget projects like this, shouldn’t get ANY time-pressure from fans (yes, I know that you’re unpatient like me).
The (FTP) updating policy on this project seems _more_ than transparent.
As hard as it may sound – instead of whining, you’d better go bug-hunting, mates 😉
    just my 2c

PS: I’m patching & playtesting as much as possible …
Coming to that point: I patched with v12 & was able to mount it from “everywhere”, but with v13 I need to short the pathes A LOT (X:/P)
But Daemon seem tools lite have problems mounting cues from “long” pathes suddenly

    So long 😉
